President Murmu To Attend CUAP’s First Convocation on July 1
President will present gold medals as Central University marks a key milestone in Anantapur.

Anantapur: President Droupadi Murmu will be the chief guest at the first annual convocation of the Central University Andhra Pradesh on July 1 at its permanent campus near Jantalur in BK Samudram mandal of Anantapur district.
Established under the AP Reorganisation Act, the university has developed its permanent campus on 491 acres under a 100-year master plan comprising administrative, academic, residential, hostel, sports and green zones.
The Central government sanctioned Rs 711 crore for the university’s infrastructure, of which `350 crore was released for Phase I.
Executed by the central public works department, Vijayawada, the first phase was completed within two years and included an administrative building, two academic blocks, two boys’ hostels and one girls’ hostel with accommodation for about 2,200 students. An additional hostel for OBC boys has been sanctioned by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
The AP government provided support for the compound wall, electricity, water supply and road connectivity.
Vice-chancellor Prof. S.M. Kori said the university began academic activities in 2018 with four undergraduate and two postgraduate programmes, enrolling fewer than 100 students from seven states.
He said the university offers nine undergraduate, 18 postgraduate, six PhD and 15 diploma programmes, with more than 1,470 students from 26 states enrolled.
President Murmu will arrive at the university helipad at 10.30 am on July 1. She will address the convocation, present gold medals to 10 students and participate in a group photograph with 56 meritorious students.
