Prakasam Steps Up Industrial Push With REMZ Project
Ravi Kumar said the project would accelerate industrialisation in the district and create substantial employment opportunities for local youth
NELLORE: Prakasam district is stepping up its industrial development drive with the proposed Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone (REMZ) and plans to strengthen skill development to generate employment for local youth.
Energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, along with Prakasam Collector P. Rajababu, on Wednesday distributed ₹31.57 crore as first-phase compensation to 37 farmers who voluntarily parted with 175.41 acres for the REMZ project.
The government has identified 1,036.93 acres at S.N. Gudipadu, East Kunduru and Mukkeswaram villages in Ballikurava and Santhamaguluru mandals for the project. Compensation for patta land has been fixed at ₹18 lakh per acre.
Ravi Kumar said the project would accelerate industrialisation in the district and create substantial employment opportunities for local youth.
Later, collector Rajababu visited the Industrial Growth Centre, where he inspected units including Quartz Tech, Anjali Granite, Likhitha Energy Systems and Prasad Organics.
At a meeting with industrialists, he sought their cooperation in establishing skill development facilities and a Centre of Excellence to equip unemployed youth for industrial jobs. He also assured prompt action on issues relating to street lighting, drainage, drinking water, police patrolling and other infrastructure.
The collector said efforts would be made to establish an Industrial Local Authority, adding that the Industrial Growth Centre should serve as a bridge between industries and the district administration.
