Prakasam Ready For Peaceful ZPTC, MPTC Polls: Collector
The collector appealed to voters to exercise their franchise without fear and ensure peaceful polling: Reports
ONGOLE: Prakasam district collector P. Rajababu said all arrangements had been completed for the ZPTC and MPTC elections scheduled for Thursday, despite the challenges posed by cyclone Murasu.
Addressing the media, he said sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations would be monitored through live streaming and tight police security had been arranged across the district. Polling personnel and election material had reached their designated centres. Strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt polling.
Reviewing cyclone relief measures, the collector said strong winds had damaged trees and electricity infrastructure. Restoration work was being expedited with additional personnel from neighbouring states. Generators and alternative lighting arrangements would be provided at polling stations.
He said advance evacuation had helped prevent major loss of life. Relief camps were providing affected families with financial assistance and essential commodities. Officials were assessing damage to houses to extend compensation.
The collector appealed to voters to exercise their franchise without fear and ensure peaceful polling.
