Prakasam District Expanded to 28 Mandals After Reorganisation

The Kandukur Assembly constituency from Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district and the Addanki Assembly constituency from Bapatla district have been merged into Prakasam district

Nellore: Following the state Cabinet’s approval on December 29 for the reorganisation of districts in Andhra Pradesh, the state government on Tuesday issued G.O. Ms. No. 523, restructuring Prakasam district by expanding it to 28 mandals, district collector P. Rajababu said.

As part of the reorganisation, the Kandukur Assembly constituency from Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district and the Addanki Assembly constituency from Bapatla district have been merged into Prakasam district.

The collector said a new Kandukur Revenue Division has been created, comprising the mandals of Kandukur, Lingasamudram, Gudluru, Ulavapadu, Valetivaripalem, Marripudi and Ponnaluru.

The Ongole revenue division will now include Kondapi, Jarugumalli, Singarayakonda, Ongole Urban, Ongole Rural, Kothapatnam, Santhanuthalapadu, Naguluppalapadu, Maddipadu, Chimakurthi and Tangutur mandals.

An Addanki revenue division has also been formed, consisting of Korisapadu, J. Panguluru, Addanki, Ballikurava, Santhamaguluru, Mundlamuru, Tallur, Darsi, Donakonda and Kurichedu mandals.
