PPP With CMC To Strengthen Primary Health Care In Chittoor
A memorandum of agreement was signed at the Collectorate by district collector Sumit Kumar and CMC director Dr Vikram Mathews. The partnership aims to improve access to primary and outpatient medical services within the Chittoor urban limits.

TIRUPATI: The Chittoor district administration on Tuesday entered into a public–private partnership with Christian Medical College Vellore to strengthen health-care services for the urban population, particularly residents of underserved areas.
A memorandum of agreement was signed at the Collectorate by district collector Sumit Kumar and CMC director Dr Vikram Mathews. The partnership aims to improve access to primary and outpatient medical services within the Chittoor urban limits.
As part of the agreement, doctors from the CMC Chittoor campus will be posted at the government old maternity centre in Mittoor. The centre will provide outpatient consultations and basic medical care to local residents. In addition, mobile medical units will be deployed to reach urban slums and other areas with limited access to regular health services.
Addressing the gathering, the collector said the collaboration reflected the district administration’s commitment to improving the quality of urban primary health care through innovative approaches. He said such partnerships would help bridge gaps in service delivery and ensure better health outcomes for city residents.
Dr Mathews said CMC’s work had consistently focused on serving vulnerable sections of society. He said the institution was pleased to partner with the government to deliver reliable and affordable health-care services closer to people’s homes.
Officials said the initiative assumed significance in view of the growing number of urban patients suffering from lifestyle-related ailments. They said the programme would support early diagnosis, regular follow-up and continuity of care.
District medical and health officer Dr Sudha Rani, municipal commissioner Narasimha Prasad, and other officials were present.
