Post-Matric Scholarships For Tribal Students Released: Sandhya Rani

The minister said the measures reflect the government’s resolve to ensure uninterrupted, positive and fear-free education for tribal students, and assured that scholarships would be released on time in the future.

VIJAYAWADA: Reaffirming the State government’s commitment to strengthening tribal education, tribal welfare minister Gummidi Sandhya Rani on Thursday announced the release of post-matric scholarships to eligible tribal students, clearing long-pending dues and ensuring timely support for the ongoing academic years.

For the 2023–24 academic year, while the earlier government released only Rs 18.67 crore, the present government cleared dues for three pending quarters by releasing Rs 71.67 crore, benefiting 69,227 students. The amount was credited directly to the bank accounts of students’ mothers.

In 2024–25, scholarship funds were released to 42,203 students, including Rs 85.67 crore towards Reimbursement of Tuition Fees credited to college accounts and `9.11 crore under Maintenance of Tuition Fees credited to students’ mothers’ accounts.

For 2025–26, disbursement is under way, with ₹100.93 crore released so far, benefiting 59,297 students.

The minister said the measures reflect the government’s resolve to ensure uninterrupted, positive and fear-free education for tribal students, and assured that scholarships would be released on time in the future.

The minister said the vision of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is to empower tribal students by improving infrastructure in schools and hostels, providing medical facilities and nutritious food, and instilling confidence that education can help them realise their aspirations.

On scholarships, Sandhya Rani said the coalition government had accorded top priority to clearing arrears that had accumulated during the previous regime. Funds have been released transparently to ensure justice to every eligible student.
