Post Allegations, Veedhi Naveen’s Suicide Case Handed Over to Palakollu CI
SP Nayeem Asmi explained that in October 2020, a case had been registered against Naveen Kumar at Undi Police Station under section 376 (1) and POCSO Act on a complaint by Dasi Rajitha.

Kakinada: The case of suicide by Veedhi Naveen Kumar of Panduvva village in Akiveedu mandal of West Godavari district has been handed over for investigation to the Palakollu circle inspector following allegations by Naveen’s family members and relatives.
Providing details, West Godavari district superintendent of police Adnan Nayeem Asmi explained that material gathered during the preliminary inquiry indicated that Naveen Kumar consumed poison in the backdrop of family-related issues. However, in view of the allegations made by Naveen’s family members against Akiveedu circle police, the SP said the investigation into the case has now been entrusted to the Palakollu inspector.
Further action would be taken based on the evidence that emerges during the course of investigation.
SP Nayeem Asmi explained that in October 2020, a case had been registered against Naveen Kumar at Undi Police Station under section 376 (1) and POCSO Act on a complaint by Dasi Rajitha. While the case had been under trial, Naveen Kumar married Rajitha in November 2022. This led to the case against Naveen being dismissed in November 2024.
In the interim, in February 2023, a case had been registered against Naveen Kumar and others on a complaint by G.Lakshmi Prasanna. Later the party that lodged the complaint and Naveen settled the matter between themselves.
In April 2024, Naveen Kumar’s wife Rajitha lodged a complaint against him under sections 323 and 498-A IPC. This dispute too had been amicably settled before the Lok Adalat.
Thereafter, in May 2025, a court convicted Naveen Kumar under the Andhra Pradesh Gaming Act for participating in gambling activities.
In view of repeated involvement of Naveen Kumar in criminal cases, Akiveedu circle police opened a rowdy sheet against him. In the first week of May 2026, Undi police summoned Naveen on the basis of a complaint lodged by his sister-in-law, who accused him of indecent behaviour and harassment.
On May 8, Naveen and his wife met with an accident and sustained superficial injuries. Subsequently, Naveen had been counselled in the presence of elders. On May 11, Naveen Kumar left the house and consumed pesticides, alleging that he is unable to bear the harassment of his wife and her relatives, who threatened to file criminal cases against him. As he had consumed poison, Naveen had been admitted to a private hospital in Bhimavaram, where he died on May 12.
After Naveen’s post-mortem, police have sent samples of his viscera to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory at Vijayawada for chemical analysis.
SP Nayeem Asmi said Naveen’s brother Naresh had reported that due to the family disputes, Naveen Kumar had consumed poison, leading to his death. However, the deceased’s mother and her relatives have raised allegations against Akiveedu circle police. Following this, Naveen’s suicide case has been handed over to the Palakollu circle inspector.
The SP has appealed to people and social media users not to believe or circulate unverified or misleading information about the incident.
