Police Seize 53 Kg Of Ganja, Arrest Nine In Three Cases

According to police investigations, the two main accused, friends from a village in Tamil Nadu, were introduced to the Ganja trade through a local contact named Manikantha.

Visakhapatnam: In a series of coordinated operations across Srikakulam district, police have arrested nine individuals and seized a total of 53 kilograms of ganja (marijuana) in three separate cases.

In the first case the Kasibugga police arrested two individuals and seized 16.32 kg of ganja.

According to police investigations, the two main accused, friends from a village in Tamil Nadu, were introduced to the Ganja trade through a local contact named Manikantha.

They were connected with a dealer who offered them Rs 1,500 per kilogram for transporting Ganja from Odisha.

The network involved a supplier known as Pittavas from Rayagada, Odisha, who provided 16 kg of Ganja to the Tamil Nadu residents.

The accused were apprehended while attempting to board a train at the railway station during routine police checks.

In the second operation, Ichapuram Town police arrested Manikumar Narayan Bhai Pawar, a Maharashtra resident, and seized 12.65 kg of ganja.

Police revealed that Pawar had established contact with one Akash from the Mankhurel area, who was involved in both the flower and ganja businesses.

Through this connection, Pawar was linked to Ashok Elias Siddhanta Nayak from the Mohana area in Odisha, who supplied the contraband. Pawar had reportedly made five previous trips, earning Rs 10,000 per consignment.

The third operation was conducted by Srikakulam Rural Police, who arrested six individuals and seized 24 kg of dry ganja.

The six accused were found in an auto-rickshaw and attempted to flee when they spotted police. Upon search, officers recovered approximately 24 kg of dry ganja and six mobile phones.

The gang was purchasing ganja from Odisha and selling it in the Narasannapeta and Amadalavalasa areas of Srikakulam district.
