TIRUPATI: A new police outpost has been inaugurated in Jeevakona in Tirupati to strengthen law enforcement and enhance public safety in the area.

SP Harshavardhan Raju launched the facility along with DFO Vivek, marking the completion of a long-pending initiative to ensure law and order.

Jeevakona, which comprises six divisions and has a population of around 45,000, has witnessed several anti-social activities in recent times. SP Raju said the facility would help check the consumption and sale of ganja, public drinking, disruptive parties, unauthorised photo shoots and bike racing on public roads.

The area is situated close to a forested region. To boost surveillance, 125 CCTV cameras have been installed across the six divisions, complemented by drone monitoring and regular beat patrols.

“While this area is home to people from various states, cultures and traditions, the actions of a few have tarnished its image,” the SP said, appealing to residents to support police efforts by providing credible information so that the police could take swift action.

The SP urged parents to monitor their children’s activities. DFO Vivek recalled that the proposal for a police outpost was first raised six years ago when he was a trainee officer in the area. He credited SP Harshavardhan’s determination for ensuring its launch now.

MLA Arani Srinivasulu, additional SP Ravi Manoharachari, DSP (Tirupati town) Bhaktavatsalam, CI Ram Kishore and local leaders attended the event.
