Police find attempted rape complaint false in Annamayya
Anantapur: Annamayya district police have inquired into a social media post over a woman accusing her brother in law of attempting to rape her and blaming a sub-inspector for not registering a case when she complained.
The media report went on to say that the woman, hailing from the SC colony in Odiveedu village in Veerabelli mandal, consumed Super Vasmol as she felt insulted.
Sources said Annamayya district SP office inquired into the matter from villagers in the area. Their preliminary investigation revealed there has been no rape attempt on the woman.
It is said Chinna Reddiah and Pedda Reddaiah are brothers residing in the SC Colony and both have land-related disputes.
On Wednesday, there had been a clash between the brothers on the road in the colony. During it, Pedda Reddaiah’s foot touched his sister in law. She then proceeded to the police station to lodge a complaint against her brother-in-law accusing him of attempting to rape her in the washroom of her house.
When the sub-inspector went to the village and inquired, he realised the woman had tried to implicate her brother-in-law in a false case. When the SI confronted the women, she consumed Super Vasmol and blamed the police. On coming to know that the woman had consumed Super Vasmol, police shifted her to the Rayachoti hospital.
Sources said police summoned both the brothers and their family members for clarity over the entire episode. Their version turned out to be entirely different from what went viral on social media.
