Police Bust Murder-For-Insurance Plot Worth Rs 1.08 Crore
The case was cracked after investigators grew suspicious during the inquest and post-mortem, as the injuries did not match those typical of a road accident

Visakhapatnam: The Kasimkota police have cracked a case that initially appeared to be a road accident, exposing a calculated murder allegedly plotted by the victim’s own family members to claim insurance money worth around ₹1.08 crore.
The victim, Kurru Narayana Murthy (54) of Kothapalli village in Kasimkota mandal, was murdered by four accused, including his own son.
Police arrested Sunkari Annavaram (42), a relative of the victim; Agraharapu Thathaji (49); Sunkari Jyothi Prasad (19), the victim’s son; and Bheemuni Nanaji (38).
Investigations revealed that the prime accused, burdened with heavy debts, devised an elaborate plan to murder Murthy and claim proceeds from multiple insurance policies taken in his name.
According to the police, the accused took Murthy to an isolated spot, assaulted him and inflicted fatal injuries. They later placed his motorcycle on the road to make it appear as a hit-and-run accident.
The case was cracked after investigators grew suspicious during the inquest and post-mortem, as the injuries did not match those typical of a road accident. Further investigation led to the unravelling of the murder conspiracy.
