Police Bust Fake Currency Racket, Attest Three

Preliminary investigation showed the gang offered ₹1 lakh in fake notes for ₹30,000 in genuine currency

Vijayawada: Police arrested three men and seized ₹6 lakh worth of counterfeit notes and printing equipment at Kokavanipalem in Pendurthy mandal on Wednesday.

The accused, Ranjith Singh, Brahma Uma Sankar and Dileep, had rented a house to print fake currency, police said. The racket was exposed after they allegedly used counterfeit notes at a wine shop in Sangamudi village, leading to a complaint.
Preliminary investigation showed the gang offered ₹1 lakh in fake notes for ₹30,000 in genuine currency and tried to circulate the notes at wine shops and petrol bunks. Further investigation is on.
