Police Alert Over JC Prabhakar Reddy’s Planned Protest
Officials are also monitoring the situation in view of the possibility of tension during the proposed protest
ANANTAPUR: Police have stepped up security in Anantapur district after Tadipatri municipal chairman J.C. Prabhakar Reddy announced plans to visit the houses of YSRC leaders on Monday to protest what he termed false cases registered against his family during the previous government.
Reddy, along with his son and MLA Asmith Reddy and other family members, is facing several cases related to the alleged registration of BS-IV vehicles as BS-VI vehicles in 2020. The Anantapur court has summoned Reddy and the other accused to appear on Monday as the trial proceedings are set to begin.
Reddy alleged that YSRC leaders had pressured the then deputy transport commissioner to register multiple cases against his family over the same issue. He said the cases were filed separately despite arising from the same allegations.
“In all the cases, the transport official lodged multiple complaints only to harass me during the YSRC government. I will go to every house of Anantapur leaders and submit bundles of documents relating to the cases,” he said.
Reddy has targeted former MLAs Ananta Venkatarami Reddy and Y. Visweswar Reddy, former MP T. Rangaiah and other YSRC leaders. He has prepared bundles of documents relating to the cases and plans to hand them over during his proposed visits after appearing before the court.
Police have taken the announcement seriously and are making security arrangements at the residences of the YSRC leaders to prevent any untoward incident. Officials are also monitoring the situation in view of the possibility of tension during the proposed protest.
