Kakinada district superintendent of police G. Bindu Madhav has launched a campaign against fake and harmful apps. She has asked police officials to educate people about the adverse impact of APK files.
Githa Ramakrishna said they have come across a new APK file, which is being circulated on social media in the name of PM Kisan Yojana. In case anyone clicks such a file, the mobile phone would go under the control of the hackers. They can then make illegal transactions even without the need of an OTP, the Tuni CI explained.
In case such a fraud occurs, people must immediately call the Cyber Complaint Cell number 1930 and register a complaint, Githa Ramakrishna suggested.
Tuni sub-inspector Vijaya Babu said police are going to every college and educating students about APK files, cybercrimes and frauds, so that they can keep away from harm.
