Polavaram Works Going On at Brisk Pace: Nimmala

Criticising the YSRC regime for failing to take up execution of the project properly, he said that the Naidu-led coalition government had taken it up with a commitment to complete its execution as per schedule.

Vijayawada: Minister for water resources Nimmala Rama Naidu stated that the execution of Polavaram irrigation project works was progressing at a brisk pace to be completed as per schedule by the end of 2027.

The minister said here on Tuesday that as Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had released the schedule for the Polavaram project, the authorities were taking up the works accordingly and added that out of the 1,396 m length of Gap-2 diaphragm wall planned for construction, so far 500 m length of work has been completed.

The minister said that the authorities were using the three trench cutters, three grabbers and other equipment for diaphragm wall works in an expeditious manner and sounded confident of completing the wall works by end of December, 2025.

Referring to the recent floods to the Godavari river, the minister said that the works at the project site were continued uninterrupted despite floods by taking up dewatering in the work area and 90 per cent of the works related to the buttress dam to strengthen the uppper coffer dam were completed.
