Polavaram Water Release on YSR Death Anniversary Is God’s Script, Says Amarnath

Speaking to media, Amarnath described the flow of water into the canal on the death anniversary of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as “God’s script.”

Visakhapatnam: Former minister and YSRC leader Gudivada Amarnath accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of misleading people over the Polavaram Left Canal project on Wednesday.

Speaking to media, Amarnath described the flow of water into the canal on the death anniversary of former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as “God’s script.”

The former minister pointed out that YSR had laid the foundation for the canal, acquired thousands of acres for its construction, and completed nearly 80 per cent of the work. Amarnath alleged that the CM is now attempting to claim credit for YSR’s efforts.

Amarnath described Naidu’s visit to Anakapalli district as “another drama,” pointing out that water has been lifted from Purushothapatnam, rather than directly from Polavaram.

The former minister underlined that farmers of Visakhapatnam district are continuing to face difficulties, with paddy sown in only 5,000 hectares this season compared to 55,000 hectares earlier. He accused Chandrababu Naidu of failing to ensure jobs or projects in North Andhra. He claimed that the YSRC government under Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as chief minister had brought ports, colleges, and development in the North Andhra region.

Amarnath demanded that the TD national president stop cursing Jagan Mohan Reddy at every opportunity and instead focus on fulfilling promises made to the people of North Andhra.

Former MLA Chintalapudi Venkataramaiah also participated in the press meet.
