Podalakur CHC Performs 7 Deliveries in a Day
The feat is believed to be the first instance in the history of the Podalakur CHC of seven deliveries being conducted in a single day.

Nellore: The Podalakur Community Health Centre (CHC) achieved a record of sorts by conducting seven deliveries in a single day on Tuesday, August 18 — six normal deliveries and one Caesarean section.
The pregnant women, from Podalakur, Kaluvayi, Chejerla and Rapur mandals, were admitted to the CHC and received care from Tuesday morning through the night under the supervision of gynaecologist Dr S. Indivari. The deliveries resulted in four girl babies and three boys. All the mothers and newborns are doing well, Dr Indivari said.
The feat is believed to be the first instance in the history of the Podalakur CHC of seven deliveries being conducted in a single day.
Dr Indivari said the medical team always encourages and prefers normal deliveries and opts for Caesarean sections only when medically warranted. The availability of doctors and nursing staff throughout the day helped the team closely monitor the mothers and take timely decisions.
CHC superintendent and anaesthetist Dr U. Prasad congratulated the doctors and staff, saying the achievement was possible due to the coordinated efforts of the medical, nursing and support staff.
He appreciated paediatricians Dr Ch. Mallikarjun Reddy and Dr Sathi, head nurse Jhansi Rani, operation theatre in-charge staff nurse Yamini and OT technician Noorulla for their services.
Relatives of the mothers expressed satisfaction with the treatment and said families no longer needed to travel to distant centres for quality maternity care.
Dr Indivari credited MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy for providing essential scanning and operation theatre equipment and thanked District Coordinator of Hospital Services (DCHS) Dr A.K. Parimala.
