Plant More Trees, Urges HC Judge

He emphasised that planting saplings alone is not enough and that citizens must ensure their proper care and growth

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh High Court judge Cheemalapati Ravi Kumar on Sunday asked the people to plant more trees to protect the environment as a part of social responsibility.

During a visit to his native village of Bhairipuram in Merakamudidam mandal of Vizianagaram district, Ravi Kumar planted saplings along the Garbham main road and on the premises of the Zilla Parishad High School.

Addressing a gathering, the judge said that increasing forest cover and planting more trees are the most effective ways to combat rising pollution and maintain ecological balance. He emphasised that planting saplings alone is not enough and that citizens must ensure their proper care and growth.

Ravi Kumar also appealed to people, particularly in rural areas, to eliminate the use of plastic and work together to make their villages plastic-free. He remarked that clean air and a green environment were among the greatest assets that can be passed on to future generations.

He further requested the district collector to develop a walking track around the village tank and install benches to promote public recreation and environmental awareness.

The programme was attended by principal district judge M Babitha, Srikakulam principal district judge Junaid Ahmed Maulana, district collector S. Ram Sunder Reddy, superintendent of police AR Damodar and other senior officials.
