Piyush Goyal Lauds AI-Based Pilgrim Management System at Tirumala

He said the technology-driven system helps ensure quick and orderly darshan for thousands of devotees visiting the shrine every day.

Tirupati: Union Commerce and Industry minister Piyush Goyal on Friday praised the use of artificial intelligence and advanced technology in managing pilgrim services at Tirumala. He observed that the newly established Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) has brought discipline, transparency, and efficiency in the temple operations and darshan system.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala, Goyal said the AI facility enables officials to monitor accommodation services, crowd movement, queue lines, and laddu distribution in real time. He said the technology-driven system helps ensure quick and orderly darshan for thousands of devotees visiting the shrine every day.

Referring to the ICCC, the union minister said he could see details, such as room occupancy, availability of accommodation, the number of pilgrims in different waiting halls, hourly visitor flow, and laddu prasadam distribution.

Piyush Goyal appreciated Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT minister Nara Lokesh for promoting information technology in the state. He congratulated Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams for completing and operationalising the AI facility in less than 100 days.

Earlier, the union minister participated in a plantation programme in Tirumala as part of the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign on the occasion of the World Environment Day. He said planting a sapling in his mother's name in the Tirumala Hills is a memorable experience for him. He expressed hope that the initiative would encourage people across the country to plant and nurture trees.

Piyush Goyal suggested that children should plant a tree in the name of their mothers and care for it throughout their lives. He expressed confidence that the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would help spread awareness about environmental protection and the importance of greenery.
