Penuganchiprolu Nearing Centre’s ‘Inspirational Block’ Status

The Prabhari officer visited the Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Gummadidurru village, interacted with beneficiaries of a Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) house in Lingagudem, and inspected an Anganwadi Centre in Thotacherla village.

Vijayawada: Penuganchiprolu Aspirational Block in NTR district has achieved 100 per cent progress in 27 of the 38 key development indicators of Government of India’s Aspirational Blocks Programme.

Addressing a media conference on Wednesday, programme’s central Prabhari officer Nelapatla Ashok Babu said Penuganchiprolu is steadily moving towards becoming an “Inspirational Block.”

Ashok Babu is also the director of National Water Mission. He visited Penuganchiprolu mandal to review the implementation of development programmes.

During the visit, he inspected educational standards at the ZP Girls High School in Penuganchiprolu. He interacted with women's self-help groups to understand sustainable development practices. He reviewed the Jal Jeevan Mission works and directed officials to expedite their completion.

At the GKPK Innovative Hub in Shanagapadu, he reviewed technology-based services being provided to farmers.

Speaking to media subsequently, Ashok Babu said the centre has identified more than 500 Aspirational Blocks across the country to accelerate social, economic, and human development. Andhra Pradesh has 15 such blocks in seven districts, including Penuganchiprolu and Ibrahimpatnam in NTR district. He said priority is being given to improve SSC pass percentages, groundwater recharge, Jal Jeevan Mission implementation, and healthcare and nutrition indicators.
