Pensions Must Reach All Needy families; Collectors To Answer For Lapses: CS
In a warning, he said district collectors would be held responsible if any genuine recipient was left out.

Vijayawada:Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand on Thursday directed that pensions must be delivered to every eligible beneficiary in Andhra Pradesh without exception.
In a warning, he said district collectors would be held responsible if any genuine recipient was left out.
Holding a video conference with collectors from the state secretariat, the CS said pension distribution was one of the government’s top priority programmes and no lapses would be tolerated.
He stressed, “If any complaint arises through media, social media or other channels that an eligible person did not receive pension, the accountability squarely rests with the collector.”
Vijayanand asked all collectors and special officers at the district and mandal levels to compulsorily participate in monthly pension distribution drives. “Ensure that no eligible applicant is excluded.”
The CS said notices had been issued to 1.35 lakh beneficiaries as part of pension scrutiny, asking them to appeal before MPDOs within a month. Of these, 88,319 appeals have been filed, while nearly 23,000 are still pending.
He said collectors must ensure that all appeals are cleared within the given timeframe.
Earlier, the CS reviewed issues relating to minor irrigation tanks, groundwater development, land matters connected to the PM-KUSUM scheme, availability of urea, and the formation of district juvenile justice committees.
