Peak-Hour Antaralaya Darshan Suspended at Indrakeeladri

The primary objective is to ensure that ordinary devotees are not forced to wait in long queues for hours and are able to have darshan in a smooth and time-bound manner

VIJAYAWADA: In a move to ease congestion and ensure quicker darshan for general devotees, the endowments department has decided to suspend Antaralaya (intra-sanctum) darshan during peak hours on weekends and holidays at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple on Indrakeeladri.

Temple executive officer V.K. Seena Naik said the decision was taken in view of the steadily increasing footfall and to give priority to ordinary pilgrims. . “The primary objective is to ensure that ordinary devotees are not forced to wait in long queues for hours and are able to have darshan in a smooth and time-bound manner,” Naik explained.

Acting on the directions of endowments commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan, the temple administration has revised the darshan schedule.

Accordingly, Antaralaya darshan will remain suspended from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, as well as on festival days, auspicious occasions and government holidays. During this period, ₹500 Antaralaya darshan tickets will not be issued.

The EO said the temple had willingly foregone ticket revenue in the larger interest of devotees and appealed to pilgrims, local residents and VIPs to cooperate with the revised arrangements.
