Pawan Kalyan Inaugurates ₹8.91-Crore Atmakur Town-NH 67 Road

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan said the widened road connectivity would be beneficial for Atmakur residents, students, and farmers in accessing National Highway 67.

Nellore:Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Tuesday virtually inaugurated the 2.2-km four-lane road that connects Atmakur town in Nellore district to National Highway 67. Developed at a cost of ₹8.91 crore, widening of the road had been a long-pending demand of local residents.

The road has been named Vayuputra Marg, in view of the 50-foot Hanuman statue at a nearby temple. The project involved road widening works worth ₹6.31 crore taken up by the Panchayat Raj department and another ₹2.60 crore of NUDA (Nellore Urban Development Authority) spent on the central divider, streetlights and beautification.

Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Kalyan said the widened road connectivity would be beneficial for Atmakur residents, students, and farmers in accessing National Highway 67.

The road has been widened following the request of Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who is the MLA of Atmakur, to the Deputy CM. Anam pointed out that a single road had been built in 2012–13 between Atmakur and NH 67. After the coalition government assumed office, Pawan Kalyan sanctioned funds for its expansion, which has been completed within four months.

The Endowments minister said he has sought ₹500 crore under the Jal Jeevan Mission to address drinking water shortages in the upland region, ₹25 crore for the Penna River bridge and its approach road, and a special package of ₹24 crore for widening the Narsapuram-Nagulapadu road.

Anam said ₹17 crore have been sanctioned for village CC roads and promised another ₹14 crore after the local body elections are completed.
