Pawan Slams Move to Impeach Judge Over Hindu-Favouring Verdict

He also objected to former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks in the context of the Parakamani theft case, calling them irresponsible

VIJAYAWADA: Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan on Wednesday said the belief that Hindus constitute a unified majority in India was a “myth”, arguing that divisions based on caste, language and region lead to discrimination against Hindus under the guise of majority politics.

He criticised the attempt by 120 MPs to seek the impeachment of a judge for delivering a verdict in favour of Hindu interests, noting that Hindus had respected legal processes even after the Sabarimala judgment without targeting the judiciary.

Speaking to national media at Mangalagiri after an interaction with panchayat raj and rural development employees, Pawan said the Constitution guarantees equal rights for all religions and insisted that the same legal safeguards available to Muslims and Christians must apply to Hindus. “If laws are applied differently to different communities, it will lead to conflict. Justice must be equal for all,” he stated.

He alleged that Hindu customs and rituals were constantly questioned and said remarks by some Tamil Nadu MPs reflected an appeasement mindset. He accused the DMK government of interfering in temple administration and practising “pseudo-secularism”. While political criticism of the BJP or Prime Minister Narendra Modi was legitimate, he said using religion for political gain was unacceptable.

Pawan said attacks on Hindu practices anywhere in the country including in Tamil Nadu, Assam and West Bengal must be opposed collectively. He called upon believers of Sanatana Dharma to stand up for their rights and suggested forming a Sanatana Dharma Parirakshana Board to protect traditions.

He also objected to former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks in the context of the Parakamani theft case, calling them irresponsible.
