Pawan Calls Upon Industries To Ensure 33% Greenery On Premises
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan urged industries to maintain 33% greenery on their premises and work towards 50% green cover by 2047.
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has called upon industrial units in Andhra Pradesh to develop and maintain greenery on at least 33 per cent of their premises in compliance with State Pollution Control Board norms.
Speaking here on Monday, he said industrial development and environmental protection were equally important for economic growth and urged industrialists to treat environmental protection as a social responsibility.
He said greenery in industrial premises would help control air pollution and reduce environmental impact. He called upon industries to take up programmes to increase green cover and directed the AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) and AP Green Executive Committee to take special measures to ensure 33 per cent greenery in industrial units across the state.
According to 2026 data, Andhra Pradesh has nearly 3,400 industrial units and companies in sectors including ports, cement, mining, energy, food processing, plastic, paper and garments spread across thousands of acres.
The APPCB recently took up a 14-day pilot project and increased greenery across 129 acres belonging to 26 industries in the state.
Pawan Kalyan stressed the need to increase greenery in Visakhapatnam and special economic zones at Sri City and Parawada. He said the state should aim to achieve 50 per cent greenery by 2047 and called upon industries to play an active role in the initiative.
