Palnadu: Two Maoists Surrender Before ASP in Narasaraopet
Two Maoists surrendered before a senior police officer in Palnadu district on Monday.
Palnadu: Two Maoists surrendered before the Andhra Pradesh Police on Monday. The two Maoists - Kandarpa Durga Prasad and Goddalla Lachchamma surrendered at the Additional Superintendent of Police's office in Narasaraopet, in the presence of the ASP Rohit Kumar Chaudhary.
The ASP informed that Kandarpa Durga Prasad hailed from Akkayyapalem in Visakhapatnam, while Lachchamma is a native of Sriramapuram Tanda in Veldurthi Mandal, Palnadu district. Both of them had reportedly been working as "urban den keepers" for the Maoist movement.
The Centre has been implementing "Operation Kagar" nationwide to eliminate Maoist activity, setting March 31 of this year as the final deadline for the operation. In this context, security forces have been carrying out continuous combing operations in Chhattisgarh, where Maoist presence is particularly strong. As a result of a series of encounters, a large number of Maoists have been killed, while hundreds of others have surrendered before police. The government has been providing the announced rewards to those who surrendered.
