Paka Suresh to be YSRC's Kadapa Mayor Nominee
The post has been vacant since former mayor Suresh Babu was disqualified over allegations of securing municipal contracts in the names of his family members

ANANTAPUR: YSRC corporator Paka Suresh has been finalised as the party’s candidate for the Kadapa Mayor post, with the election scheduled to be held on Thursday.
Given the YSRC’s clear majority in the Kadapa Municipal Corporation, corporators met former MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy on Wednesday and unanimously selected Suresh as their nominee. Officials said a unanimous election is likely, as the TD does not have sufficient numbers to field a contender.
The post has been vacant since former mayor Suresh Babu was disqualified over allegations of securing municipal contracts in the names of his family members.
Suresh Babu approached the High Court challenging Thursday’s election notification. However, the court rejected his petition and refused to stay the polling, citing that the Election Commission had already notified the vacancy.
District authorities confirmed that polling will be held as per schedule. Police have imposed Section 144 in the vicinity of the Kadapa Municipal Corporation office to prevent any untoward incidents.
