Paka Suresh Elected as Kadapa Mayor Unopposed
The mayoral term will last only three months as the local body elections are approaching. Owing to the short tenure, the Telugu Desam chose not to field a candidate. The previous mayor, Suresh Babu, was removed by the coalition government after allegations of corruption and irregularities were found to be true.

Kurnool: Paka Suresh has been elected unopposed as the new mayor of the Kadapa Municipal Corporation. The election, held at the corporation office on Thursday, was supervised by joint collector Aditi Singh. YSRC corporators proposed and supported his nomination, including Deputy Mayor Nityananda Reddy and corporator Shafi, leading to his unanimous election. Aditi Singh formally declared the result.
Although the final vote was unanimous, three YSRCP corporators were initially in the race for the post. To resolve the internal contest, Kadapa MP Y.S. Avinash Reddy and YSRC district president Ravindranath Reddy held discussions. Acting on the directions of YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, 47th division corporator Paka Suresh was selected.

During the election process, Ravindranath Reddy submitted the B-form, A-form and whip notice to the election officer. Speaking to the media, he said the mayoral candidate was chosen with the consensus of all corporators and that none were dissatisfied. He added that those who have supported the YSRC since its formation continue to serve as corporators in the city.
