Padma Awards Given To Seven From Telugu States
A ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday saw seven worthies from the two Telugu states, among others, being honoured with the prestigious Padma awards.

Visakhapatnam:A ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday saw seven worthies from the two Telugu states, among others, being honoured with the prestigious Padma awards.
All the Padma Award winners came with their families to receive the national awards. The event this time was held as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the auspices of the Union home ministry.
Famous actor and Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honour, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Indian cinema.
Four personalities from AP received the Padma Sri awards – KL Krishna for literature and education; Madugula Nagaphani Sarma for art; Miriyala Appa Rao (posthumous) for art; and Vadiraj Raghawendracharya Panchamukhi for literature and education.
From Telangana state, Duvvuri Nageshwar Reddy received the Padma Vibhushan in the medical category while Mandakrishna received the Padma Shri in the public affairs category.
The honours were conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.
These awards are given to those who have shown excellence in various fields of activity such as arts, social service, public affairs, science and engineering, commerce, industry, medicine, literature, education, sports, public service etc.
