Overseas Job Racket: PD Act Ivoked Against Human Trafficker

The youths were sold to cyber scam companies, where they were forced to participate in online fraud operations targeting people in India.

Visakhapatnam: The city police have invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Chukka Rajesh Vinay Kumar, an agent accused of trafficking unemployed youths to Chinese-operated cyber scam centres in Cambodia, Myanmar and Bangkok in the name of providing them high-salary overseas jobs.

City police commissioner Shankhabrata Bagchi arrested and shifted the accused to the Visakhapatnam central prison.

According to the police, Rajesh, a resident of Gajuwaka, lured unemployed youths with promises of well-paid jobs as data entry operators in air-conditioned offices abroad.

He reportedly collected `2 lakh from each candidate through his institute, arranged flight tickets and business visas, and handed them over to agents in Cambodia.

The youths were sold to cyber scam companies, where they were forced to participate in online fraud operations targeting people in India.

Police said the victims were subjected to torture when they resisted or refused to carry out cybercrimes.
