Over 4.25 Lakh Bhavani Devotees Complete Deeksha at Kanaka Durga Temple

Endowments department commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan visited the temple on Sunday and reviewed the arrangements along with temple officials and engineering staff

Vijayawada: More than 4.25 lakh Bhavani devotees have so far completed the Sri Bhavani Deeksha Viramana (relinquishment) and had darshan of Goddess Sri Kanaka Durga at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri from December 11 till Sunday.

With the concluding Deeksha Viramana scheduled for December 15, the NTR district administration expects the total number of devotees to cross the projected 6 to 7 lakh mark.

Endowments department commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan visited the temple on Sunday and reviewed the arrangements along with temple officials and engineering staff. He inspected queue lines, interacted with devotees and personally distributed buttermilk and refreshments to pilgrims waiting for darshan.

Ramachandra Mohan said the smooth and disciplined conduct of the Deeksha Viramana programme reflected the effectiveness of the elaborate arrangements put in place by the department. He said that, in strict compliance with government directions, a comprehensive action plan was implemented to ensure devotees faced no inconvenience.

Facilities such as hassle-free darshan, uninterrupted annaprasadam distribution and adequate laddu prasadam supply were ensured throughout the programme, he said.

The commissioner added that the arrangements were modelled on the successful Dasara festival management plan, with strong inter-departmental coordination. He said the department is fully prepared to handle a further surge in devotees.

Free transportation to bathing ghats, mineral water supply, free darshan and prasadam arrangements drew appreciation from pilgrims. Laddu prasadam is being prepared at three locations to meet the heavy demand. Effective crowd management was ensured through coordination with the NTR district administration, police and the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, supported by modern technology.

Temple executive officer V.K. Seena Naik and engineering officials accompanied the commissioner during the inspection.
