Operation Clean Sweep Launched Across Godavari Districts

The collector said “red spots” and “yellow spots” would be identified and cleared during the first week, while the second week would focus on cleaning major and side drainages.

Kakinada: The “Operation Clean Sweep” sanitation drive was launched across Kakinada, Eluru, East Godavari and West Godavari districts on Saturday with participation from district collectors, municipal officials and public representatives.

East Godavari district collector Keerthi Chekuri flagged off the programme organised by the Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation and said the four-week sanitation drive would continue till June 20 in accordance with state government directions.

The inaugural rally was conducted from the municipal office to Godavari Railway Station via Sri Venkateswara Anam Kala Kendram.

The collector said “red spots” and “yellow spots” would be identified and cleared during the first week, while the second week would focus on cleaning major and side drainages.

She said garbage accumulation in commercial areas would be addressed during the third week and public toilets would be cleaned and maintained in the final week.

Rajamahendravaram Municipal Commissioner Rahul Meena said the drive would continue until every ward and street in the city became clean.

In Eluru, district collector K. Vetri Selvi and Eluru MLA Badeti Radhakrishnaiah launched the programme and participated in road-cleaning activities along with officials and Telugu Desam workers.

Vetri Selvi urged people not to dump garbage indiscriminately on roads and called for public participation in sanitation drives.

At Tadepalligudem, municipal commissioner Yesubabu supervised drainage cleaning and removal of waste material and appealed to residents to keep their surroundings clean.

In Kakinada, district collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad, MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao and MLC Karri Padmasri participated in cleanliness activities at Gandhi Park.

Padmasri appealed to residents to cooperate with the government in making the city plastic-free and garbage-free.
