NELLORE: In a major crackdown on crime and narcotics, Prakasam district police conducted a large-scale cordon and search operation in Ongole town on Sunday and seized 12 motorcycles and six auto-rickshaws without valid documents as part of ‘Operation Vajraprahar.’

The drive was carried out under the directions of superintendent of police V. Harshavardhan Raju and supervised by Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao. Led by Two Town Circle Inspector M. Srinivasa Rao, the operation involved eight Sub-Inspectors and 42 police personnel. Teams combed Balaji Nagar and nearby areas in the early hours, conducting thorough checks of houses, shops and residences of known offenders.

Special focus was laid on identifying the storage and sale of ganja and other narcotics. Addressing residents, DSP Srinivasa Rao warned that drug addiction can severely impact individuals financially and socially, while also endangering families. He made it clear that those involved in trafficking and sale of narcotics would face stringent legal action.

Police also created awareness on road safety and cybercrime, urging motorists to follow traffic rules and cautioning citizens against OTP frauds, online betting and sharing sensitive details. A rally was held, with residents pledging to work towards a drug-free society.

Police appealed to the public to share information on narcotics by contacting local police, dialling 112, or messaging WhatsApp number 9121102266.
