Online Help For Students: 60,000 Books Uploaded into State's Library App

Hundreds of students and general readers are making use of the libraries dail

KAKINADA: The Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha has uploaded a digital catalogue of 60,000 books, out of a lakh, in the ÀP Libraries App’, introduced by the Andhra Pradesh government as a digital platform to provide public library services and educational resources across the state.

The Samastha has 101 branch libraries. Hundreds of students and general readers are making use of the libraries daily. However, they are finding it difficult to search for the books they require, unless the librarian helps them.

Now, however, the AP Libraries App is connecting students, job aspirants, researchers and people to digital knowledge resources, providing reference materials and updated resources for competitive exam preparations and promoting digital learning. This reduces the need to physically visit libraries.

In recent days, the number of students visiting the libraries has increased due to their special interest in competitive examinations. In this App, users can identify the required books in other libraries in the state.

“Suppose a student wants a book from a library in another district for competitive preparation purposes. He/she can know via the app where the book is available and he can go there and get the book for his preparation’’ said KJSL Kumari, secretary to the Samastha.

She said librarians in all the 101 libraries are encouraging the students and the general readers to install the app in their smartphones for their use.

Samastha’s chairman Bhupathiraju Saibaba Varma donated nearly 250 competitive exam-related books to the library for the benefit of students to prepare for competitive examinations. The catalogue of such books is uploaded in the app. Novels including the writers' names, magazines, competitive study books, spiritual books and other catalogues are being uploaded in the app.
