Ongole Streets Adorned With 3,600-Ft National Flag In Unity Rally

TIRUPATI: A massive patriotic rally featuring a 3,600-foot-long national flag was held in Ongole on Wednesday, drawing participation from students, officials, and the general public.

The rally commenced at the District Police Parade Ground and continued up to Addanki Bus Stand, with the expansive tricolour waving proudly along the route. Ongole MLA Damacharla Janardhan, mayor G. Sujatha, and senior district officials joined school and college students in the event.

The rally was organised by Vasavi Clubs under the aegis of Vasavi Clubs International President E. Ramakrishna and vice-president Siddha Venkata Surya Prakash Rao, the event was conducted with support from the Prakasam district police, led by superintendent of police A.R. Damodar.

Speaking on the occasion, SP Damodar said it was a matter of pride that the Indian national flag was designed by Pingali Venkayya, a Telugu freedom fighter from the Andhra region. He noted that the sight of the tricolour evokes a natural sense of patriotism, symbolising unity, peace, and non-violence.

Additional SP (Admin) K. Nageswara Rao, Municipal Commissioner K. Venkateswara Rao, Ongole DSP R. Srinivasa Rao, AR DSP Srinivasa Rao, Ongole Taluka CI Vijaya Krishna, One Town CI Nagaraju, Two Town CI M. Srinivasa Rao, students, and others participated in the programme.
