ONGC in Touch with Global Specialists

Senior management and technical experts of the corporation are closely monitoring the situation. Additional equipment is being mobilised from nearby locations, including Narsapuram.

Kakinada: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is in touch with international specialists for controlling the situation in the aftermath of the blowout at the ONGC well in Irusumanda village near Razole mandal of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district.

In a press statement, ONGC officials explained the incident. According to them, PEC Operator Deep Industries Limited informed them about the gas leak during the “workover operations” at Well Mori-5 on Monday.

The well is located in a remote area with no human habitation within a radius of approximately 500–600 metres. No injury or loss has been reported. The area has been cordoned off. ONGC has mobilised its crisis management teams. Cooling operations have commenced.

Preparatory works are in progress to control the leak and, if required, the well will be capped, said ONGC officials.
