One Gets Life Term,Another Jailed For 7 Years In Advocate Murder Case

Life imprisonment was awarded to B Nagaraju while the other convict was V Nagendra.

Kurnool:A Nandyal court has imposed life term for a convict from Owk in Nandyal, while another from B Koduru village received seven years of simple imprisonment in the case of murder of an advocate in 2015.

Judge D. Ammanna Raja of the third additional district court in Nandyal announced the verdict on Wednesday. Life imprisonment was awarded to B Nagaraju while the other convict was V Nagendra.

The case against the first accused B Sujatha from Owk village remains pending as she is currently a paralysis patient receiving medical treatment in a hospital. The fourth accused, I Venkata Reddy from Bhupanapad village, had died during the trial.

The case involved the killing of advocate K Basavaraju from Kolimigundla village in the night of August 4, 2015, near a school for the mentally disabled children. This was on the Nandyal-Giddalur road at Subbaiah Kunta, Gopavaram village.

Unknown persons killed the 40-year-old victim and burned his body in bamboo bushes. The next morning, VRO Venkata Narayana from Gopavaram village reported the incident to Mahanandi police station. The investigations revealed that Sujata had an illegal relationship with the victim, and there were compromising videos on the victim's mobile phone. To remove these videos and avoid blackmail, Sujatha planned the murder with the help of the other accused.

On the night of August 4, 2015, the accused took the victim in a car from Banaganapalle, gave him a cool drink mixed with cyanide poison and killed him. They took the body to Gopavaram village and burned it in bamboo bushes. The gang took away a gold chain, a gold ring, and an ATM card from the victim.

The police arrested the accused in August and October 2015. The charge sheet was filed in court on October 14, 2017.
