Yoga Andhra 2026 Targets 1 Crore Participants: CM
The Chief Minister highlighted the remarkable success of last year's Yoga Andhra programme, which brought national and international recognition to Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for a massive statewide yoga movement with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announcing a planned participation of one crore people in the Yoga Andhra 2026 campaign marking the 12th International Yoga Day.
Launching the Yoga Andhra portal in Amaravati on Wednesday, the chief minister said the campaign would be conducted from June 7 to 20 across the state to transform yoga into a daily habit in every household and build a healthier Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu said the flagship Yoga Andhra 2026 event would be organised on a grand scale in Amaravati, where 25,000 participants are expected to perform yoga on the Krishna river’s west bypass bridge. Yoga, he said, is India’s invaluable gift to the world and remains one of the most-effective tools to combat stress, anxiety and lifestyle-related diseases.
Highlighting the success of last year’s programme, organised in Visakhapatnam in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the CM said AP earned widespread recognition by securing two Guinness World Records, 21 World Book of Records entries and a Skoch Award.
Yoga Andhra 2025 attracted registrations from 2.44 crore people, with certificates issued to 1.91 crore participants. Yoga sessions were conducted at 1.33 lakh venues with support from 1.53 lakh trainers.
District-wise themes have been designed this year to encourage participation from various sections of society. Dedicated programmes will be held for police personnel in NTR district and farmers in Konaseema district. Yoga events will be organised at all district headquarters and at 56 prominent tourist destinations, including the Undavalli Caves and Srisailam, to promote yoga tourism.
As part of the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision, the government aims to train 10 lakh certified yoga practitioners, expand the network to 2.5 lakh yoga instructors and encourage one crore citizens to practise yoga regularly.
A special budget of Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure, publicity and event management.
The chief minister said yoga promotion would continue beyond the annual celebrations. More than 168 educational yoga videos have been developed and these can be accessed through WhatsApp by sending a “Hi” message to 81424 04888. He appealed to social media influencers, television channels and cable networks to support the awareness campaign.
Naidu emphasised that the government is integrating yoga into educational institutions to cultivate healthy habits among children from an early age. “If children adopt yoga at a young age, we can build a healthier and stronger generation for the future,” he said.
The newly launched Yoga Andhra Portal will function as the central platform for registrations, schedules, instructional videos and programme-related information. The initiative is being supported by several spiritual and wellness organisations, including Art of Living, Isha Foundation, Brahma Kumaris, Baba Ramdev, Manthena Satyanarayana Raju and Prakriti Ashram.
The government is also integrating the programme with the Sanjeevani Project to strengthen preventive healthcare and wellness across the state.
