Officials Told to Prepare Kharif Plan for Godavari, Somasila Deltas
Samoon said as per directives of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, over 60 lakh farmers have downloaded the Farmers’ app and have received their unique farmer IDs.

Kakinada: AP Agriculture director Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon on Sunday directed agriculture officers to prepare a plan for Kharif 2026 season in the light of early water releases from Godavari and Somasila delta regions.
Reviewing the Kharif preparedness with agriculture officers concerned, he asked district agriculture officers to ensure that farmers fully utilise the released irrigation water for paddy nurseries and transplantation. He wanted them to be ready with local area contingency plans in view of the possible El Nino impact.
Samoon said the Irrigation Advisory Board would finalise the scheduled dates for water releases. However, in Nellore and Tirupati districts, water has already been released from Somasila and Kandaleru projects on May 4, 11 days earlier than last year. Rice transplanting is expected to be completed under these projects between May 20 and May 25.
The Agriculture director made it clear that appropriate varieties of rice and fertilisers are available in all regions. He asked field-level officials to log in and monitor conditions daily via the APIMS app, which provides updates on weather, pests, and agricultural prices and share this information with farmers.
Samoon said as per directives of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, over 60 lakh farmers have downloaded the Farmers’ app and have received their unique farmer IDs. These will be linked to central and state agriculture schemes, including distribution of fertilisers. Those who do not have the IDs may register themselves immediately.
Those present at the meeting included Agriculture joint director (Planning) Venugopal.
