Officials Told to Expedite Canal Protection Project Works

Kakinada:Konaseema district collector R. Mahesh Kumar on Monday directed irrigation officials to expedite the construction of the revetment wall along the Mukkamala–Eedarapalli main canal and complete the project on a war footing.

During an inspection of the works near Siripalli on NH-216, the district collector said the revetment wall would prevent erosion of the canal bank, protect the irrigation canal and safeguard the interests of farmers who depend on it for agriculture.

He said the project would also improve safety along the national highway and help ensure uninterrupted vehicular traffic.
