Officials Told To Examine Change Of Polling Stations

Kakinada: The Eluru District Collector K. Vetri Selvi instructed the officials to examine the petitions received for changing the polling stations and setting up additional polling stations in the district and take action as per the rules.

She convened a meeting with the representatives of political parties on Saturday on the issues of revision of the voter lists, changing and adding polling stations, and others.
She said that 16 proposals were received from the political representatives for changing polling stations and 123 for setting up new polling stations due to dilapidated buildings and other reasons.
She said that there are a total of 1,744 polling stations and 16,39,197 voters including 7,99,918 of male voters and 8,39,151 female voters, and 128 third-gender voters in the district. She said that 2,231 representations regarding revision of voter lists have been sorted out of 2,988 applications received and 710 applications were rejected.
She said that the district administration sorted out 9,572 applications under Form-7 out of 10,615, and 649 applications were rejected. The political representatives who participated in the meeting expressed displeasure with the Assistant Returning Officers and said that the AROs are not attending the electoral-related meetings at the constituency level. She instructed the AROs to attend the meetings.
