Officials Hold Surprise Checks At Cinema Halls In North Andhra

Officials inspect theatres in Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram after Pawan Kalyan’s Remarks

Visakhapatnam: Officials conducted surprise inspections at several theatres in Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts on Wednesday.

These checks come following Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan’s comments that certain cinema halls are neither maintaining standards as per government regulations nor ensuring that theatres provide adequate amenities for audiences.

In Vizianagaram, joint collector S. Sethumadhavan visited a theatre around 1:30 p.m. He meticulously inspected the balcony and carefully examined seating, lighting and other features. He evaluated fire safety equipment, scrutinised the canteen and inquired about the food quality and pricing. At the ticket counter, officials confirmed that tickets are sold at the price mentioned. They stressed on the importance of improved restroom maintenance and sanitation.

In Visakhapatnam, Urban MRO M. Ramesh and RDO S. Srilekha inspected multiple theatres. They evaluated critical aspects, including audience seating, parking facilities and fire safety measures. Their review extended to food stalls, where they found discrepancies in labelling expiration dates on snack packets. They instructed theatre owners to halt the sale of low-quality, locally produced food items and strictly enforce proper labelling practices.

These proactive initiatives have been taken to ensure safe and high-quality cinema experience for the public.

Officials emphasised that their rigorous inspections will prompt immediate corrections and long-term improvements, ensuring public safety and overall satisfaction.
