NTRUHS To Launch BSC Emergency Medicine In All Medical Colleges

ANANTAPUR: The Vice-Chancellor of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS), Dr P. Chandrasekhar, on Friday announced that a new BSc Emergency Medicine course with 20 seats would be introduced in every medical college in Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing faculty members and students during his visit to Anantapur Government Medical College, the vice-chancellor said the course would strengthen emergency healthcare services and create specialised manpower. He said the programme would be introduced on the lines of existing paramedical courses such as cardiology, perfusion science and anaesthesia.

Dr Chandrasekhar said the course would offer students a focused career pathway in emergency medicine and enhance the quality of emergency response in hospitals across the state.

He also announced that `3 lakh would be allocated to each medical college for developmental works. Playgrounds would be developed in all medical colleges, and inter-collegiate cultural programmes would be organised every year, he said.

The vice-chancellor advised faculty members to act as role models for students and emphasised compassionate patient care as a core value of medical education.

Anantapur Medical College principal Prof. Dr M. Vijayashree thanked the Vice-Chancellor for allocating a separate day exclusively for research activities. Government Hospital superintendent Dr D. Malleshwari urged students to actively participate in research. Vice-principal Prof. Dr S. Sharon Sonia said students at the college were consistently involved in research and had received recognition from the university.
