NTR’s Fondness For Food To Reflect At Kadapa Mahanadu

Over 2,000 expert chefs from all over AP being deployed for cooking food

ANANTAPUR: The tradition of Mahanadu stems from the legendary party founder N.T. Rama Rao. A fact that may be missed is his fondness of quality and tasty food, which he made it a point to serve at the Telugu Desam Party Mahanadus that had been organised under his supervision.

That tradition of serving grand meals to Mahanadu delegates and guests has continued for four decades and the three-day Kadapa Mahanadu will be no different. A notable inclusion at Kadapa are the non-vegetarian dishes after a long time.

Approximately 30 different dishes are being served each day at the food courts. Traditional Telugu sweets, such as Atreyapuram Pootharekulu, Tapeswaram Kaja, and Bandar Laddu are being served alongside regional dishes like dal, sambar, Ulava Charu (horse gram soup), milk-based sweets, and sugar pongal. Modern delicacies like apple halwa, veg Jaipuri, and kadai vegetable kurma have been added to the menu.

To prepare this grand feast, teams of more than 2,000 culinary experts have been engaged. On May 28, as part of the birth anniversary of NTR, the teams will prepare some of his favourite dishes, such as milk sweets, badam burfi, bobbatlu, and sugar pongal.

A member of the Mahanadu food committee said they have been managing food arrangements for Mahanadu since 2014, after AP separated from Telangana. However, a key element of 2025 Mahanadu is that over its three days, in addition to sweets, they will be serving non-vegetarian dishes, such as gongura chicken biryani, dosakaya mutton, Andhra-style chicken curry, and egg fry to cater to the preferences of the Rayalaseema attendees.”

Five massive hangars have been set up exclusively for food service. Two for TD leaders and workers. Another hangar is for ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior party leaders. A separate facility has been created for distinguished guests and life members.

Meals will be served for 30,000 persons daily, with contingency provisions to prepare another 10,000 people.

However, on the final day, organisers are planning to serve food to nearly 3,00,000 attendees – 75,000 people along the Kadapa-Chittoor route, 35,000 on the Pulivendula route, 30,000 on the Rajampet route, and 50,000 on the Nandyal route.
