No Lapses in Mega DSC Reservations: Commissioner

Creating unnecessary doubts over an otherwise transparent recruitment process

VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department on Friday rejected allegations circulating on social media that candidates had been denied Mega DSC-2025 teacher posts because of the selection of Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) candidates, stating that all appointments were made strictly in accordance with merit, roster and reservation rules.

School Education Commissioner Tameem Ansaria said the PwBD horizontal reservation was being misinterpreted on social media, creating unnecessary doubts over an otherwise transparent recruitment process.

Addressing the media at the State Secretariat along with Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) vice-chairperson and managing director Bharani, Ansaria said the recruitment was conducted under G.O.Ms. No. 77 dated August 2, 2023.

Explaining two cases cited online, she said EWS candidate Devaguptapu Santoshi Parvathi, ranked 92 in PGT (English), Zone-I, was not selected because one of the two EWS vacancies was filled on general merit up to rank 84, while the other went to PwBD (Visually Impaired) candidate Ashok Kumar Manivelthi, who holds a 40 per cent visual disability certificate.

Similarly, School Assistant (English) candidate V.V.V. Bhaskar Reddy, ranked 68 among EWS candidates in Kadapa district, missed selection after seven of the eight EWS posts were filled up to rank 67 and the remaining vacancy was allotted to PwBD (Hearing Impaired) candidate Goniguntla Subhashini.

Ansaria clarified that horizontal reservations for women, PwBD candidates, ex-servicemen and meritorious sportspersons were adjusted within the respective vertical community rosters and not through separate roster points.

The Mega DSC filled 16,347 teacher vacancies, attracting 3,36,300 candidates and 5,77,675 applications. Computer-based tests were conducted at 154 centres in 89 sessions over 24 days. After scrutiny of objections, publication of final keys and scientific normalisation, 15,941 candidates were approved following certificate verification. More than 32,695 queries and 1,135 grievances were also addressed.

Bharani rejected allegations relating to sports certificates, saying selections were based on verified records authenticated by recognised sports bodies. She said complaints regarding two judo certificates had been examined using Form-II, genuineness certificates and authenticated declarations.

She added that SAAP had lodged a complaint with Vijayawada and NTR district cybercrime police over a suspicious audio recording, following which an FIR was registered and the accused arrested.
