No Harm to Telangana from Water Release to Banakacherla: Naidu

The CM elaborated on his vision, saying, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are like two eyes to him. He stressed the importance of cooperative development in managing water resources.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has once again been unanimously elected as the Telugu Desam National President for another two years.

The election was done during the second day of the Mahanadu conclave at Kadapa on Wednesday. With this, Naidu continues in this post for the 30th consecutive year. The announcement was made by TD election committee chairman Varla Ramaiah.

Naidu thanked the party cadres for their faith in his leadership. “TD will exist as long as the Telugu people exist,” he declared.

Addressing Mahanadu, Naidu declared that his government’s goal is to supply water up to Banakacherla. He emphasized the need for early completion of the river interlinking project while noting, “AP currently stands as the last state in the utilisation of river waters.”

Naidu pointed out that the interlinking of rivers would also benefit Telangana. He accused the BRS party of indulging in false propaganda. “There would be no harm to Telangana from the supply of water to Banakacharla,” he said and asked, "What is wrong if we utilize the water that would otherwise flow into the sea?"

The CM elaborated on his vision, saying, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are like two eyes to him. He stressed the importance of cooperative development in managing water resources.

The party chief dismissed media reports that he sought the relocation of the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) facility from Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh. His appeal to the Centre was solely on “establishing a defence manufacturing hub in AP.”

The CM said, “HAL in Bengaluru is a massive, strategic facility. Such institutions can’t be moved. I have never sought the relocation of any project from one region to another.” He emphasised that Lepakshi in Anantapur district is suitable for setting up aircraft manufacturing and defence-related industries.

“I had highlighted Lepakshi’s potential, but some politicians in Karnataka misunderstood this as an attempt to shift HAL to AP. Recently I met defence minister Rajnath Singh to seek establishment of a defence manufacturing hub in AP, preferably in the Rayalaseema region,” Naidu affirmed.

He noted, “It was NTR who initiated Telugu Ganga, Handri-Neeva and Nagari-Galeru projects. It is because of TD that Anantapur has emerged as a prosperous district through horticulture. This year, Rs 3,800 crore is being invested in Rayalaseema’s water projects. We will complete Polavaram by December 2027 and dedicate it to the nation.”

“We will connect Polavaram to Banakacharla via the Krishna river and the Bollapalli reservoir. Once the Polavaram-Banakacharla is complete, the face of the state will change. Our goal is to interlink rivers from Vamsadhara to Penna.”

“We are transforming AP into a clean, green energy hub to permanently solve power issues. We will encourage solar and wind power generation. Our goal is 160gw power generation, a Rs 10 lakh crore investment, and 7.5 lakh jobs. Every constituency will get at least 10,000 rooftop solar connections.”

Naidu said, “We have achieved social justice through SC reservation categorization. We will protect Waqf Board properties and prevent illegal rice transport. We abolished mobile ration distribution units. We’ve restarted the Amaravati projects to build it as the people’s capital with world-class amenities.”
