Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam city police have declared a temporary 'No Drone Zone' ahead of President Droupadi Murmu's visit to the city on June 30 to attend the convocation ceremony of the Tribal University.

The commissioner of police Dr Shankha Batra Bagchi issued the order under Rule 24 of the Drone Rules, 2021, as part of security arrangements for the President's visit.
The restriction will remain in force from 9 a.m. on June 29 to 2 p.m. on July 1. During this period, the operation, flying, launching or landing of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be strictly prohibited.
The no-drone zone covers a 12-km radius from Visakhapatnam Airport to Hotel Novotel on Beach Road. Police said the measure has been taken to ensure public safety and prevent any security threat during the President's official engagements.
The police warned that anyone found operating drones within the prohibited zone would face legal action under the provisions of the Aircraft Act, 1934.
The commissioner of police has directed the district collector, Visakhapatnam Port Authority, airport authorities, police officials and the director general of police, Andhra Pradesh, to ensure strict enforcement of the order.
Citizens, drone operators, photographers and commercial UAV service providers have been advised to comply with the restrictions and avoid flying drones in the notified area during the specified period.
