No DJ Sound System, No Free Power for Ganesh Pandals

Electricity officials have rejected the request made by the BJP leaders to provide free power.

BJP leader Y Malakondaiah expressed his dissatisfaction and said electricity officials got no instructions from the government for free power supply. He urged the government to supply power free of cost to the pandals.

Pandal organisers keep pressuring the officials to allow DJ sound systems. The police department ignored the plea.

The temples protection samithi convener DN Ramesh noted, “While the cockfighting is a form of gambling, the government turns a blind eye to it for all three days of the Sankranti festival, citing tradition and public enthusiasm. Similarly, unofficial nod should be granted for DJ sound systems at the Ganapathi Navratri and Devi Navaratri festivals.”

Curiously, this time, the police department is giving a QR Code to the pandal committees consisting of five members each. In this, all details of the pandals and the organisers’ names etc are uploaded. The police started an inquiry on the pandal organisers and gathered information about their background.

Meanwhile, the Nagara Ganesh Utsav Samithi reviewed the Ganesh celebrations in rural mandal. The samithi’s honroary president Dusarlapudi Ramana Raju and president Rambhala Venkateswara Rao said over 1200 idols would be brought to the Suryaraopet beach during the two-day immersion process from Kakinada city, Peddapuram, Jaggampeta and its surrounding rural areas.

The plans include constructing a raised platform to provide a clear view of the entire immersion site and installation of a sound system audible from the road outside the beach. Wiring should be routed via poles rather than through the sand and floodlights should be installed in greater numbers than last year.

To prevent cranes and tractors from getting stuck in the sand, a path using gravel quarry dust needs to be laid for entry and exit. It is estimated that nearly 10,000 people would visit the beach on the immersion day.
