NMC Property, Vacant Land Taxes Without Fine Till Dec. 31

Commissioner Nandan said all eligible beneficiaries should apply for TIDCO housing.

Nellore: The Nellore Municipal Corporation has announced that property tax and vacant land tax can be paid without any penalty up to December 31.

The announcement was made during the weekly public grievance redressal programme on Monday.

NMC incharge mayor Roop Kumar Yadav and Commissioner YO Nandan received petitions from the public at the Command Control Centre of the municipal office.

Roop Kumar Yadav urged citizens to make use of the forum to resolve their issues. He asked officials to ensure that grievances are addressed within the stipulated time frame and take steps to prevent recurrence of problems.

Commissioner Nandan said all eligible beneficiaries should apply for TIDCO housing.

He said citizens who clear municipal dues through the National Lok Adalat on the 13th of this month will not face any further action. However, legal cases will be filed against defaulters who received notices but failed to respond or attend the Lok Adalat.

Highlighting tax compliance, the commissioner reiterated that no penalty will be imposed on those who pay property tax and vacant land tax by Dec 31. From January, penalty charges will be mandatory for delayed payments.

He also called upon the public to take advantage of the Layout Regularisation Scheme and Building Penalisation Scheme.

A total of 52 grievances were received at the programme, including Account Section (2), TIDCO Housing (16), Town Planning (9), Revenue (5), Engineering (10), Public Health (3), APCOS (6) and Pension (1).

Deputy commissioner Chennudu and other officials attended the programme.

A free dental check-up camp was also organised on the municipal office premises under the auspices of Dr Divya’s Dental Hospital.
