Vijayawada: A nine-year-old Class IV student has approached the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking a direction to her father, a judicial officer, to provide interim financial assistance of Rs 40,000 per month towards her education and day-to-day expenses.
According to the petition, the girl’s father is serving as the Second Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate at Jagtial in Telangana’s Karimnagar district and is drawing a monthly salary of about Rs 1.70 lakh besides owning movable and immovable assets.
The petitioner stated that her mother had filed a maintenance petition before a court in Ongole in 2024 seeking monthly alimony of Rs 50,000 from her husband. She also filed an interlocutory application seeking interim maintenance of Rs 40,000 per month for the child's education and maintenance. Both petitions, the plea stated, have remained pending for nearly one-and-a-half years.
The petitioner requested the High Court to direct her father to pay interim financial assistance or deposit a consolidated amount towards her maintenance. She also sought directions to the Ongole court to dispose of the pending maintenance petitions expeditiously.
